XRremote User Guide

Overview

Connect virtual team members for real-time augmented reality collaboration. Using mobile devices, on-premise team members can share real-time views of equipment and environments with remote experts in multiple locations. A 3D annotation feature allows teams and senior experts to virtually view and draw on objects in 3D using a tablet or remote PC.

Get the XRremote App

Download the Mobile or Desktop App.

Starting an XRremote Session

  • Launch the XRremote App
  • Enter a desired meeting Room Name
  • Enter a provided App Key
App Key

To acquire an App Key to use XR remote, please contact info@simplear.io. All Users in your Organization must have the same App Key in order to join a shared meeting.

Room Name

Users joining a session must have the same App Key and Room Name as the Host. The Room Name is case sensitive.

Host an XRremote Session

An XRremote Host can share their environment with up to 15 additinal participants in an XRremote session. The host's environment is shared and scanned by the host allowing remote participants to annotate their environment with various annotation controls.

  • Select the Host button to create a new Meeting Room for other Participants to join

Only Mobile users can Host an XRremote session using the outward facing cameras of the device to capture the environment. Desktop users are limited to participating in the remote session.

Join an XRremote Session

An XRremote Participant can join an existing XRremote Session. As a Participant, a User can annotate the environment of the Host using AR annotations as well as share video of themselves in the Session.

  • Select the Join button to join an existing meeting room.

Using Annotations

Various annnotation controls allow a Participant or Host to annotate the shared environment by the Host. Areas that can be annotated are any Tracked Planes in the environment where blue dots are visible.

Drawing Annotation

  • Select the Marker button to start annotating by drawing
  • Select the a desired Color for the Marker
  • Select a desired Size for the Marker points
  • Drag along a Tracked Surface to place Marker points

Arrow Annotation

  • Select the Arrow button to start annotating with arrows
  • Select the a desired Color for the Arrow
  • Select a desired Size for the Arrow
  • Select a Tracked Surface to place the arrow in the environment
Note

Arrows are placed perpendicular to a Tracked Planar Surface. Try placing Arrows on vertical or horizontal surfaces to see how they align.

Note Annotation

  • Select the Note button to create a textual note in the environment
  • Select a Tracked Surface to place the note in the environment
  • Enter the desired Text into the form and submit to confirm the note

Eraser Tool

  • Select the Eraser button to remove individual annotations in environment
  • Select the Annotation you want to remove to delete it

Undo

  • Select the Undo button to remove individual annotations in environment reverse chronologically
Note

Using Undo undoes annotations for the entire group of participants, not just the active participant.

Clear All

  • Select the Clear All button to remove all annotations from the shared environment for all participants

Take and Share a Picture

  • Select the Camera button to immediately take a picture of the shared environment with annotations superimposed
  • Once the picture is taken it can be shared on mobile platforms using the mobile platform's native sharing capabilities
